Completing Your Account Opening Paperwork

Welcome to investment onboarding. Our team is here to help get this paperwork done and dusted so your money can get to work. 

TL;DR: there are lots of Docusign forms coming your way via Schwab. Please sign ALL of them promptly so we can help get your accounts set up. 


For each account we're opening, there will be a MoneyLink form. This document establishes a connection between the bank you wish to make future contributions from and your Charles Schwab investment accounts. 


We highly recommend you use your checking account as you can always move money over from savings. If you wish to use another account or add a second bank account, just update the Docusign form.

Here’s the information you’ll need to have on hand to complete the forms: 

  1. Your social security number. 

  2. Your preferred bank routing and account number. 

  3. Your most recent monthly bank statement (to verify you are the owner of the account). 

  4. Optional: You can add other beneficiaries to the accounts, have the person’s full legal name, birthday, and relationship to you handy. 

  5. Optional: if you are NOT a US citizen, a copy of your passport and visa is required. 

We have prefilled the account opening forms with the information you provided on your onboarding form. 

Please make sure to set up your Schwab credentials and save your username and password in a password manager. 

 
 

A quick note on Docusign’s “Knowledged Based Authentication” 

There is an epidemic of fraud in the financial services industry so in order to protect your identity, there will be either two-factor authentication with "knowledge-based authentication" questions required to electronically sign the documents. These questions will be WEIRD, like  "Where did your Aunt Sally live from 1975 - 1995 with multiple choice of A. New York B. Virginia or C. California."  HEY, it's better than paper forms, right? 

Then create your username and password and set up your security questions.
