  • Brooklyn Fi is committed to making sure that team members have a clear career track.

  • We have found that many tax professionals are curious about wealth management but don’t know how to make the leap. We created this track to make that transition seamless and meaningful for our team members.

  • The CPA > CFP career track is offered at Brooklyn FI as a loose framework for a tax manager to transition from tax work to relationship management.

  • A Brooklyn Fi financial planner typically manages 70-90 client relationships and possesses both the technical skills to advise on equity compensation and the emotional intelligence to deliver effective financial advice.

  • CPAs with expertise in tax preparation for individuals already possess many of the key technical skills required of financial planners.

  • CPAs have the ability to "challenge" the CFP® coursework and will only need to take the capstone course and pass the exam.

  • Generally, our CPAs that have transitioned to CFPs will take on about 15 client relationships per “season”. We have two seasons per year - tax season and Year-End Planning season. At this rate, it will take a few years to get up to full capacity.

  • Considering the intense workload of onboarding new clients, our CPA > CFP advisors will likely focus on minding current clients instead of building financial plans for new clients.
